Governance

Batchworth Sea Scouts Group is a registered charity (Charity Number 302621) and operates as an independent group under the structures of our governing body, The Scout Association. We are part of the Rickmansworth and Chorleywood Scout District, and in turn part of the Hertfordshire Scout County.

We comply fully with all the policies and procedures as mandated by The Scout Association and The Charity Commission. We have adopted the Group Constitution as published by The Scout Association

The Group is run entirely by volunteers, giving their time at no reward towards the management of the activities and the leadership of our youth sections. Governance of the Group ultimately lies with our Trustees, with day-to day operations managed by the Leadership Team:

  Trustee Board Group Leadership Team
Purpose A team of volunteers who work together, as charity trustees, to make sure Scouts is run safely and legally. Helps volunteers across all Sections to work together and feel motivated.
Responsibilities
  • Scouts operates safely and legally
  • Volunteers have the resources to get things done
  • We’re planning and thinking for the long term
  • Money, risks, and buildings are managed well
  • Teams follow policies and legislation
  • The Group’s sections are supported
  • Volunteers in the group can develop and share skills
  • The Group is engaging with the local community, and has a positive image
  • Effective processes, like finance, joining enquiries and meeting places are well managed
