Join the Batchworth Waiting List

The Batchworth Scout Group is somewhat the victim of its own success. Over the last 5 years, we have doubled our capacity for members by opening second sections at all ages, meaning we have 2 Beaver Colonies, 2 Cub Packs, 2 Scout Troops plus an Explorer Scout Unit. Unfortunately we have waiting lists for all sections and further growth is limited by the amount of adult volunteers available to help run the units.

We try to offer spaces to everyone, but are of course constrained by the requirement to keep section numbers at a safe level and with a programme of activities that remains fun and adventurous. Everyone involved with Batchworth Sea Scouts is a volunteer who helps the Group in their spare time; we can’t please everyone, but we try our best!

To join the waiting list please click here and complete the form. We will confirm that we have received your application and may ask for further details.

The waiting list is operated on a first come, first served basis, taking into account the date that your child joined the list. The only exceptions are for siblings of current Beavers, Cubs, Scouts or Explorers and for the children of Leaders. If you would like to volunteer as a Leader for any age group, your child will be able to join one of our sections when they reach the right age.

Becoming a Leader isn’t as scary as it sounds! Most of us are parents and took up a leadership role as a result of our children being part of the group. No experience is necessary, all we ask for is enthusiasm and some of your free time; what you get back is immeasurable!  Please visit our Volunteering page for more details.

If you have any questions about joining the waiting list or about helping out at Batchworth then please contact us by email: info@batchworth.org

Covid-19 and Scouting

Batchworth Sea Scouts follows the advice of The Scout Association in relation to the safe delivery of Scouting, who in turn work with The National Youth Agency to translate Government advice into governance rules.  They have implemented a tiered Readiness Level, controlling the type of activities that can be delivered based on local conditions.

We are currently at Amber readiness level allowing group sessions where precautions and social distancing are implemented.  We expect further changes in the coming months as the national picture evolves.

Leaders continue to work with parents to deliver the best scouting experience possible, whilst conforming to the current Readiness Level restrictions.

Thank you to everyone for your support in these times and please contact us with ideas, suggestions and requests.

Meeting Times

Currently, meeting times are subject to amendment to accommodate the best programme delivery within Covid restrictions.
